Giulio Rimondi

I consider myself a “documentary artist” as I come from reportage photography, which I transfer in artistic procedure, focused on the human, ethical dimension of the subject.

In this transfer, photography and video are my elected mediums.

Photography provides an alibi to my inborn restless curiosity; it allows me to take part in the lives of the others from the inside, as requested by my self-imposed role to keep a trace.

My photography is always inspired by literature or derived from it. I create the most of my art in foreigner countries during lonesome travels;

I consider solitude and astonishment for the world indispensable in order to get into an emotional, artistic relation with a community and their environment. I have always been interested in Mediterranean Culture in which I find my roots.

 Nato a Bologna nel 1984, segue studi classici fino al 2006 quando consegue la laurea in lettere. Utilizza come linguaggio artistico la fotografia di reportage socialmente impegnata, con particolare attenzione alla dimensione umana del soggetto.

Le sue foto compaiono su The New York Times, Le Monde, Repubblica e sulle principali testate mediorientali. Dal 2008 espone in Italia e all’estero, in gallerie, musei, festival internazionali e fiere d’arte.
