White Night Melbourne Australia, 2013

Josephine Telfer's work Billabong has been chosen by White Night Melbourne 2013 to be screened in the exciting program as a spectacular feature of the event.

Telfer's images in fact will be projected on the ground in the historic central Swanston Street, in the heart of the city, close to the Melbourne Town Hall.

From the organizers's program:

"The concept of the billabong rings through the quintessentially Australian song ‘Waltzing Matilda’ and Banjo Patterson’s lyrics. This series of videos has been created from footage taken from truly Australian terrain: a billabong in Northern Victoria. A full moon moving amongst the reflected gum trees surrounding the billabong creates a eerie atmosphere, as do the Australian birdsongs at night. Wisps of mist on the surface of the water remind one of the end of the song: ‘And his ghost may be heard as you walk by the billabong you’ll come a Waltzing Matilda with me’. "

Josephine Telfer is represented by Stephen McLaughlan Gallery, Melbourne and Artegiro Contemporary Art Montefiascone, Italy
